Educational Technology and Research International (e-TRI) is working with various stakeholders in Benin to find research-based and innovative solutions for the introduction and integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education. The present white paper titled: "Introduction et Intégration des TIC dans l'Education au Bénin : Tome 1 : Enseignements Primaire, Secondaire et Professionnel" is a contribution in that direction. This paper (in French) is presented in a draft form for the public review and comment.

 e-TRI designed developed and produced its first DVD compilation of Free and Open Source Software for Education in Benin titled Socrate 1.0. It includes a selection of software tested and evaluated by experts in educational technology. The range of resources offered includes educational and productivity software for all levels of education, desktop software, utilities, etc.
The initiative Socrate 1.0 responds to the expectations of educators and learners who need powerful but affordable software. It allows users to have access to needed effective and free software on DVD, eliminating download failures related to connection problems.

In May 2009, e-TRI-Benin became the official partner of Development Gateway in Benin and took the ownership of the Benin Development Gateway. Here are some of the projects we have completed or are in the process of completing.

We have fully redesigned the main BDG portal following our needs assessment to achieve more functionality. It is becoming a true gateway with useful information for Benin nationals and foreigners alike.  It currently offers:

• General information about Benin,
• Online services for citizens and foreigners (including administrative procedures and paperwork),
• Local news and media,
• Most importantly links to the sub-portals dedicated to business and education.
