Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become key elements for economic and social development in this increasingly globalized world. Education is a natural gateway for the acquisition of the ICT skills required for employment today and in the future. Developed countries are only in the early stages of educational reforms to reflect the importance of ICT in teaching and learning. Therefore, investing in ICT in education (ICTE) gives African countries a chance to evolve with the rest of the world, rather than play the eternal game of catch up.

While the average US student uses a computer daily as a tool to research, learn, communicate, and develop critical thinking skills, most African students complete their entire educational journey without using a computer. Education is a gateway to solving problems in other sectors including health, agriculture, the protection of the environment and the economy in general. Educational Technology and Research International (e-TRI) will enhance education in Africa by supporting the use Information and Communication Technologies in Education (ICTE). (more…)
