Research
e-TRI conducts research in African countries to implement better policies and strategies in educational technology. While our work in classrooms and communities is critical, we know we need to connect our field work to research supporting ICT4E. We research and track the impact of ICT4E on student learning and creativity, improvement in learning conditions and achievement in rural areas, improvement in gender differences in education, specifically enhancing learning opportunities for girls and obstacles and limitations to broadband access, especially in rural areas.
We also study innovative ways to generate electrical power for ICT equipment and to engineer ICT equipment for Africa keeping in mind resistance to the elements and cost-effectiveness. Finally, we work with local authorities to find lasting solutions to professional development and institutional issues related to instructional technology. Our research is a critical component of the organization; by supporting the case for ICT in education in Africa, we can change education policies and strategies for years to come.
